The Community and Trade Union Learning Centre on the Olympic Park celebrated World Book Day by taking learning into Marylands Children’s Surestart Centre. Playfair Brazil and Playfair 2012: joining forces in the UK to protect workers’ rights

Playfair Brazil visit to the Community & Trade Union Learning Centre

The Playfair Brazil, Playfair 2012 and international Play Fair campaigns came together in London from 12-14 December 2011, to exchange top tips and share lessons about how to ensure that the rights of workers delivering the Olympics and World Cup are protected for future games.

- ideas for Learning at Work Day 2012

- information on the new numeracy support training for ULRs ‘Maths Messenger’

It is a good opportunity to meet up with local colleges and others to exchange information and organise learning across the local area.
This meeting is open to all union reps, ULRs, and union officers.

GMB Learners go for Gold as Paul Kenny GMB General Secretary praises work of CTU Learning Centre

GMB learners at the Community and Trade Union (CTU) Learning Centre at the Olympic Park celebrated success with their General Secretary Paul Kenny recently. The group of learners were receiving certificates for a range of achievements including Skills for Life courses, IT and career enhancement skills. Tackling vulnerable employment is a key concern for policy makers and trade unionists. With the labour market yet to recover from the recession, and increasing numbers of those in work facing temporary and insecure employment, action to improve job quality for the lowest paid workers is as urgent as ever.
